XBMC Media Center in Slackware

When a few days ago I installed karaoke on the Slackware partition of my old laptop (read it),

i decided to install also a Media Center to have a more complete musical experience.

I wasn’t sure which one would do the trick so I began with the well known XBMC.

Learn about XBMC if you don’t know it, it is compatible in every distro.

• 1. Idownloaded the source: xbmc-10.0.tar.gz
  2. Then I downloaded slackbuild: xbmc.tar.gz
  3. I installed the dependencies: ibmpeg2, faad2, libmodplug, libmms and enca.
  4. I started building.It would be wise to check our page about Slack Builds.

When I finished (quite fast) I added XBMC to the start up applications.

After rebooting I chose Slackware from the boot list and I came up with a complete Media Center.

I couldn’t believe that my old laptop could handle a Media Center.
